but it’s just so perfect for their relationshipbrienne grabs his fork with a sort of annoyance likeshe doesn’t wholly want to admit that she’s grown fond of himand jaime comes in real quiet and subtle, which i think is often his way of caring for peoplewhich is probably something he learned a long time agothat when he needed to care for tyrion and cersei he couldn’t be loud and he always needed to be gentlebecause when he dealt with his family he was always walking a tightropejaime’s whole identity up to this point has been as the rock of his siblings who hate each otherhes stability and comfort to people who are sloppy and angry and scared and ready to pounce at any timeso taking care of brienne comes naturally to him in that way,

“I have had my fill of words and tearful farewells.”— Gannicus 3x10

It’s telling that the last person Gannicus envisions, is not Melitta or Sybl or Saxa or anyone else but Oenomaus; his best friend, fellow gladiator, teacher and brother. The one who gave him a cause to fight for.

One of the most provoking lines in the entire Spartacus series for me was when Spartacus says something along the lines of: “Then let us show them what a man of cause is capable of.” Oenomaus showed Gannicus in death and life the true greatness he could and did achieve.

Their friendship was beyond words.
